WatchGate

Parent-approved YouTube for kids

Every video needs a yes first.

WatchGate lets a parent choose which YouTube channels their child is allowed to browse. Inside those channels, a child can look through recent videos — but nothing plays until the parent taps “approve” on their own phone.

How it works

  1. A parent adds the YouTube channels they're comfortable with their child watching.
  2. The parent pairs their child's device to the app with a one-time code.
  3. Their child browses recent videos from only those channels.
  4. When the child picks a video, the parent gets a notification with the video's title, channel, and a link to preview it — and can approve it once, or mark the whole channel as always-approved.
  5. Only after approval does the video play, using YouTube's own standard player.
